“I have lived in a village near Malmesbury since the 1990s and until fairly recently, was working too hard, full time, with two daughters at university. Being made redundant was the opportunity I needed to redress the balance and to look at what was really important to me and my family. I had been curious about Nordic Walking for a while and took the opportunity to sign up to a Beginners Nordic Walking course in Feb 24 from which I haven’t looked back. Since then I have really felt the benefit and joy both of the exercise and the Nordic Nomads group, so much that I felt comfortable to embark on the Nordic Walk Leader role,”

“I have lived near Malmesbury for many years, and after retiring I was looking for an activity that delivered a little bit more than ambling around fields and woods at the speed of our slowest dog! I joined a Learn to Nordic Walk course at Westonbirt almost 4 years ago, and have been walking with the group several times a week ever since. I have benefited enormously both physically and mentally from the regular exercise each week, and also from the challenge of the longer Freedom and Explorer walks and the Cotswold Way. This is an extremely friendly and considerate group, where you are free to either chat or walk alone quietly. I was persuaded to train to become a walk leader, and am looking forward to giving a little bit back to the group, enabling walks to continue when Tash takes a break.”

“In August 2025 I knew I needed to embark on some personal change ... I was taking five drugs a day with multiple medical conditions including Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Cheney Stokes Respiration, Clinically Obese, High blood pressure, T2 Diabetes and likely to go onto drugs, Atrial Fibrillation and regularly suffering from Plantar fascitis. With a sit down lifestyle, driving professionally, weary after work, a grumpy father of three adults, and a grandpa to three youngsters. After 11 months with Nordic Nomads (as well as ongoing chiropractic guidance from the lovely team at Moose Hall who first referred me to Nordic Nomads) I'm gently caring for myself again reducing weight, eating well and hydrating properly, My diabetes numbers are down and the trends, all the trends are going in the best direction. I've adopted a new lifestyle and in July 26 I recorded 145 miles Nordic walked alone or with the Nordic Nomads club. I found Nordic Nomads to be a positive supporting group of folk from all walks of life desiring to learn a new skill, share experiences and walk together to improved health outcomes. I am proof positive that under the cheerful instruction of Tash change is achievable and rewarding. I encourage any who want to change to contact Tash, and give yourself the opportunity to stride into a different future. Hoping to meet you on a Nordic walk soon.”
